"The income support program in Nunavut exists to help those unable to access a minimum standard of living. In Nunavut, half of the population matches that definition and over half of the population live in housing provided by the state. Nearly 70 percent of Nunavut’s children live in households rated as food insecure and 15 percent of children will experience at least one day in the year when they do not eat. In Nunavut, poverty is not a fringe or special interest issue. Rather, poverty is the issue."
